The Maniples of the Legion would have hurled their heavy Javelins (pilum) at the enemy at close range, in order to break their formation and cause confusion prior to closing in to finish them off with the sword. They would also have used their shield as a weapon, not just as a means of defence – punching the heavy scutum into the enemy’s face to de-stabalise him, before stabbing up and under with his sword. The Greeks were appalled by the wounds such tactics inflicted following the battle of Cynoscephalae. These superbly detailed and animated figures show the Legionaries ‘in the act’, throwing, punching and stabbing in true Legionary style, allowing you to add extra dynamism and animation to your ranks of plastic Roman warriors!!
This set contains 4 highly detailed 28mm metal figures, representing Legionaries in the act of engaging with the enemy – hurling pilum and closing in with the sword. Enough to put the fear of the Gods in to any enemy of Rome!
