The Romans copied a great deal of Etruscan Custom, Religion and Fighting Styles – it is thought the ‘Legio’ or levying of the differing classes of Citizens was an Etruscan custom carried over into Roman Society. It’s also thought the ‘triplex acies’ or 3 lines of fighting may also have been Etruscan in origin. Whether these customs originated with the Etruscans or not, it is highly likely that when they fought with the Romans, they would have adopted a similar fighting style.
This set represents Class I warriors in the classic kneeling position of the ‘Triarii’ or 3rd line.
